Onam celebrated in Kerala with much frolic

Thiruvananthapuram, August 28 (ANI): People in Kerala visited temples and played various sports as part of the culmination of 10-day long celebration of harvest festival, or Onam on Friday. Onam, that marks the last day of the colorful festival savouring various flavours of the state, is a caricature of culturally diverse India. Many public and private organisations celebrated the last day of this harvest festival in their own unique manner. In Kerala, Foundation for Annam Charity and Ease, a non-governmental organisation working for the poor and deprived members of the society, arranged the 'Onam Sadhya' or Onam feast. The children were dressed in traditional costumes as they danced, and meals were prepared in the traditional form and served in plantain leaves with a lot of curries and steamed rice.
