Naxals recruiting children in their ranks, says ACHR

New Delhi, May 10 (ANI): In its latest report, titled "India's Child Soldiers", Delhi-based Asian Centre for Human Rights (ACHR), says the Naxals and other insurgent outfits are recruiting children to fulfill their objectives. According to the report, at least 3,000 children, of which 2,500 are in the Naxal affected states, are currently involved in armed conflicts. Director of ACHR, Suhas Chakma believes the figures could be significantly higher. According to ACHR, the problem is rampant in all insurgency hit states, and is really bad in naxal affected states. Because of this practice, not only are the children being denied their rights of education and health care, they are also forcibly dragged into a conflict that has nothing to do with them.
