NIT students from across India conclude In-Residence programme at Rashtrapati Bhavan

New Delhi, April 26 (ANI): For 22 years old Arkita Chakrabarti , an NIT Agartala student pursuing B.Tech in chemical engineering, a one- week long stay at the magnificent Rashtrapati Bhavan was nothing short of a dream come true experience. Arkita was one of the 17 National Institute of Technology (NIT) scholars, selected from NITs across the country, who were a part of the first ever 'In-residence' programme for students at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, which concluded recently. During their week-long stay at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the students got a chance to interact with officials from different departments and understand the functioning of various government bodies. Prior to this, an 'In-Residence' programme was held for artists, writers, and grassroots entrepreneurs, last year. This is all a part of the continued effort by President Pranab Mukherjee to open up the Bhavan to the public. Another batch of 17 NIT students is scheduled to be a part of the programme in May. There are also plans to expand the programme to students and teachers from other central varsities.
