Landslide blocks road, disrupts lives in Jammu and Kashmir

Reasi, Aug 28 (ANI): Hundreds of thousands of people continue to live in miserable condition in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir as the road connecting the region has been blocked due to landslide. Over 2,50,000 people living in around 35 villages of Reasi are cut off from other parts of the state for the last one week as the road connecting Arnas city and Rajouri district, which passes through the villages of Reasi, remains blocked. The villagers say they are facing a tough time as they have run out of supplies after the landslide. Earlier this month a landslide triggered by heavy rains in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir had suspended the Amarnath Yatra, also leading to the closure of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. Meanwhile, NC leader Abdul Ghani Malik said the charge of road construction and post landslide clearance has now been shifted from Public Works Department (PWD) to Border Roads Organisation (BRO). He also assured that normalcy will return soon to the region.
