Kite Festival held to offer tribute to Brahmaputra River

Guwahati, Assam, Jan 23 (ANI): The sixth annual Jeevan Kite and River Festival-The was held in Assam’s Guwahati city on the Rajaduwar ghat in Panbazar. Organised by the volunteer’s association Jeevan initiative, the festival aimed to offer tribute to the Brahmaputra river, which has nurtured all ethnicity and diversity, sensitising people about cleanliness around the river and exploring the potentiality of tourism and livelihood by the river. The festival provided an opportunity to the city dwellers to relate to nature and rejuvenate their lives. Thousands thronged to flew kites of different colours and shapes as a metaphor of their desire to have wings and dream high. The event saw participation of people from all walks of life, who gathered to preserve the real essence of the mighty river as a mark of their tribute to the river. Various contests, including kite making, cultural parade, and painting, were held that attracted people in large numbers. Thousands of colourful kites filled the sky above the river, which offered a rare sight of the overall beauty of the river to its visitors. The five-day long festival reminded the people of their connection with nature and inspired them to preserve and promote the rich heritage of the mighty river.
