Kashmiri’s celebrate Urs of Sufi Saint Mir Syed Ahmad Shah Kirmani in Srinagar

Srinagar (Jammu & Kashmir), Jun 17 (ANI): Devotees in Srinagar celebrate three days annual Urs of Sufi saint Mir Syed Ahmad Shah Kirmani (RA) whose mausoleum is situated at Nowhatta area of Srinagar city. Annual Urs was celebrated in which devotees, including women and children, paid obeisance and offered special prayers at the shrine--- which resounded with recitations of verses of Holy Quran. The annual Urs was celebrated according by Islamic or Lunar Calendar. According to Sufi history, one of the Suharwardi Sufi who came to Kashmir was Mir Syed Ahmad Shah Kirmani. He came to Kashmir during the reign of Sultan Nazuk Shah. He was preacher of Sufism and mutual brotherhood. He conveyed the message of humanity and high traditions of Kashmir. The message of this Sufi saint was peace and prosperity among all communities and brotherhood.
