Jaitley addresses telecom and broadcasting seminar
New Delhi, Feb 06 (ANI): Finance Minister Arun Jaitley inaugurated a seminar on telecom and broadcasting in New Delhi on Saturday. He talked about the growth of the economy and the impact of technology on it and also said that the telecom and broadcasting are the two most regulated sectors. He also mentioned that initially broadcasting was thought to be a monopoly of the government which has changed over time. He spoke about when colour television came into existence. He said there was always a fear of the unknown when the telecom sector was opened up. Jaitley also said that the reason why broadcasting was given to TRAI was because these sectors were speedily moving towards convergence. He concluded by saying that alternate mechanisms were being created to ensure the growth of these sectors.
