Indian army rescues 24 people stranded in flash floods in Kashmir

Poonch/ Budgam/ Rajouri, March 31 (ANI): Indian army rescued 24 people stranded in flash floods in Jammu and Kashmir. They were trapped after the water level of a river in Poonch district rose due to incessant rains. Army personnel connected two ends of the swollen river with a make shift ropeway to ferry the villagers to safety. In Budgam district, 17 people are feared dead after a hillside collapsed onto a house in a village about 40 km (25 miles) from the capital Srinagar. District officials have recovered four bodies so far. Hundreds of people fled their homes as Kashmir's main rivers continued to swell and weather forecasters predicted further downpours in the region that was struck by devastating floods seven months ago
