India suspends Indus water commission talks

New Delhi, Sep 27 (ANI): India has decided to suspend Indus water commission talks until Pakistan-sponsored terror in India ends, according to sources. The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday to review the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan amidst heightened tension between the two countries. According to the sources, a decision was taken to expedite construction on three dams on the Chenab River, named Pakul Dul, Sawalkot and Bursar. According to sources, India will utilise “legal rights in the treaty to the fullest” and the construction on the Tulbul navigation project, the work on which was suspended in 2007, would also be reviewed. An inter-ministerial task force for Indian rights would also be formed for western rivers under Indus Waters treaty.
