India-Pakistan cricket ties to resume in Sri Lanka

New Delhi, Nov 26 (ANI): A senior official of Indian cricket board on Thursday (November 26) said the country would resume its cricket ties with Pakistan with a bilateral series set to be hosted by Sri Lanka next month. India had said no cricket activity will take place with Pakistan as long as the latter supports militancy against it. India has not played a bilateral test series against Pakistan since 2007, though they did host them for two T20 internationals and three ODIs between December 2012 and January 2013. Indian Premier League chairman Rajeev Shukla said the two countries had reached a consensus on the resumption of cricket ties. When Pakistan's envoy to India, Abdul Basit, was asked about the league he said the league will be welcomed if the governments agree. Cricket played between India and Pakistan is one of the most intense sports rivalries in the world anticipated by fans of both countries. Any match between the two nations attracts millions of viewers and reportedly the count goes up to one billion according to TV ratings.
