IIT- Madras bans student group for criticizing Central government

Chennai, May 29 (ANI): The Madras branch of Indian Institute of Technology has banned a student group for allegedly criticizing the Central government and its policies. The prestigious technical education institute acted after the Union Human Resource Development ministry forwarded to it the complaint, which alleged the Ambedkar Periyar Student Circle (APSC) was mobilising scheduled caste and scheduled tribe students against the government's policy on the use of Hindi and the ban on beef. A student, Akhil, said that the authorities have taken such actions on the government's prerogative earlier too. He added that the Dean tells a lie after giving decisions and does not listen to the students' complaint later. The academic In-charge of the institute, K Ramamurthy, said that the students' group will be given a chance to speak to the senior authorities.
