Health hazards force state to issue stop notice to ship-breaking unit in Kerala
Kannur, July 23 (ANI): Protests by local villagers against the increasing health hazards and environmental pollution compel authorities in Kannur city of Kerela to issue a stop notice to the ship dismantling factory of the area on Wednesday. After widespread protests by residents of Azhikkal village in the city, the District Collector, P. Balakiran, issued a stop memo to the ship-breaking unit, Steel Industrial Kerala Ltd (SILK). Balakiran said the stop notice was issued because SILK failed to produce valid and legal license for their functioning.
