German envoy bats for India s permanent membership in UNSC
New Delhi, July 15 (ANI): Germanys Ambassador to India, Michael Steiner has said that Germany advocates Indias claim for a permanent seat in the Security Council of United Nations alongside rooting for itself a spot in the elite group. Interacting with mediapersons after officially taking over the office Steiner said that both Germany and India were serious contenders of being granted a permanent seat in the Security Council. Steiner also welcomed the proposed free trade agreement (FTA) between India and the EU, which is the expected to be signed by the end of this year. Steiner also said that the target of bilateral trade worth 20 billion euros, as set by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and German Chancellor Angela Merkel was set to be achieved, despite global slowdown.
