French foie gras makers find US ban hard to swallow

Beloved in France banned in California. Foie gras, the expensive ducks liver delicacy, is now prohibited in the US state on the grounds that force feeding birds to produce it constitutes animal cruelty. In Frances southwest, where ducks have been force fed grain to produce foie gras for generations, the economic impact is expected to be slight but the negative image of an industry could hit hard.
