Floods continue to torment Gujarat

Surat, Sep 09 (ANI): Relief workers rescued patients from hospitals in Surat which are surrounded by flood water while flood situation remained grim as water level continued to rise in several parts of Gujarat bringing normal life to standstill. Incessant rains wreaked havoc in the state, inundating low lying areas and rendered thousands homeless. The commuters had a harrowing time as they waded their vehicles through the flood water. Civic authorities had sounded high alert, as they do not want a repeat of the 2006 floods, which had left the entire city flooded. Fire officer said around 75 people, including patients doctors and visitors were rescued in boats.
