Fishermen in Kerala demand separate ministry to redress their issues
Thiruvananthapuram, July 23 (ANI): A fishermen forum from Kerala conducted a signature campaign demanding Narendra Modi-led government for a separate ministry to monitor issues related to fisherfolk. BJP leader O Rajagopal kick-started the campaign, urging central government to take back permits to foreign vessels to fish in Indian seas as it would affect country’s fishermen. President of National Fishworkers’ Forum in Thiruvananthapuram, T Peter, said they would hold a national level meeting to create an action plan against the Modi government, if their demands were not met. Meanwhile, Peter said Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party did not fulfill its promises made in the manifesto of creating a separate ministry.
