First AC bus shelter inaugurated in Chennai

Chennai, May 03 (ANI): The much awaited new air-conditioned bus stop, first of its kind in the city, was inaugurated in Chennai on Sunday. Cantonment Board of St Thomas Mount and Pallavaram, has taken the initiative to set up the bus shelter near St. Thomas Mount on Grand Southern Trunk Road. Three AC bus shelters have opened up to give some relief to the commuters from the heat. The air-conditioned bus stop, built at a cost of Rs. 1.25 crore by a private agency, is a pilot project of the Cantonement Board. This would be extended if any corporate or private agency comes forward to set up more such bus shelters. Similar facilities will be established on the opposite side after the Chennai Metro Rail completes its project and at Pallavaram and near airport.
