Elephant calf falls into well in Kerala, rescued
Kothamangalam, April 27 (ANI): Villagers and forest officials in Kerala came to the rescue of a two-year-old elephant calf trapped inside an unused well in the forests and successfully pulled it out. The calf fell into the well while roaming with its mother and rest of the herd. The villagers became alert when the elephant herd made trumpeting sound near the trapped calf in Kuttampuzha Forest Range. Rescuers dug a slope in the well to help the calf climb up the ground. As soon as the calf was pulled out, it ran towards the forest, destroying several mud walls and crops on its way. Forest officials said the calf did not suffer any injury in the process.
