Electoral roll in Meerut mentions voters’ age between 200 and 600 years

Meerut, April 21 (ANI): Believer it or not but according to an electoral roll in Meerut city of Uttar Pradesh, which goes to polls on May 17, the oldest voter is 747 years old. There are others also in the list whose ages have been mentioned between 200 and 600 years. A significant number of voters in the list have seen many centuries and most of these multi-centenarians live in ward number one of the cantonment area. The oldest in the list is Hari Singh whose age is mentioned as 747 years by the Meerut Cantonment Board (MCB). Another voter Ashok Kumar said that these mistakes were sheer negligence by the election commission. Meanwhile, Meerut Cantonment Board (MCB) election official DN Yadav called them a printing error. Soon after the list was out, residents protested against the authority for the goof up on a large scale in the electoral list. Last year in May, Google the world's No.1 search engine, had pitched a project to the Election Commission to create a simpler and faster search tool for voters to check whether they were registered correctly or not.
