Devotees across India celebrate Krishna Janmashtami

New Delhi/Mathura, Sept 05 (ANI): Devotees across India are celebrating Krishna Janmashtami, the birthday of Lord Krishna with fervour and grandeur on Saturday. On the occasion of Janmashtami people pray to Lord Krishna and seek blessings for a happy and good life. Long queues outside Lord Krishna’s temples are a common site on this day. Devotees thronged ISKCON temple in New Delhi since wee hours of morning. ISKCON is known for its grand Janmashtami celebrations and scores of devotees come to be a part of the vivid ceremony. Devotees were seen dancing and clapping while priests performed prayers. Children too were in celebratory mood as they dressed up as Lord Krishna and his partner Radha. A devotee, Deepti, said that the day held immense importance. Meanwhile a festive mood prevailed across Mathura, also the birthplace of Krishna, as devotees from across India converged in the city to witness what is called one-of-its-kind Janmashtami celebrations. Janmashtami celebrations in the city included theatrical representations of various stages of Lord Krishna’s life, from his pranks as a child to eliminating evil forces in adulthood, across the city. Temples were decked up with lights and devotees started pouring in since early morning.
