Demonetisation hits factory labourers

Ludhiana, Dec 06 (ANI): Labourers in Ludhiana struggle to make ends meet as many small factories have stopped operations amid a lack of funds after demonetisation of large currency notes last month. The audacious move has dealt a severe blow to small businesses. The informal sector is among the worst hit. A labourer, Babulal, said he had been forced to quit. A factory employer, Dagnesh Prabhakar, said business owners had no money to buy raw material or pay their employees. Since Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced abolition of rupees 500 and 1,000 bills on November 8, there have been several cases where people have suffering from demonetisation.
