Delhi organises heritage walks to promote tourism destinations

New Delhi, April 18 (ANI): Delhi government on Saturday launched a series of heritage walks to promote various tourism destinations in the national capital. One such heritage walk was flagged off by Delhi's tourism minister, Jitender Singh Tomar, at the historic Purana Qila (Old Fort) to mark the World Heritage Day. The fort is a 16th century monument believed to be Delhi's oldest fort built by the Afghan invader, Sher Shah Suri. Delhi Tourism has teamed up with Delhi Heritage Management Secretariat to create awareness about dozens of such historical sites. People from across the city gathered on a warm Saturday morning to walk and gain knowledge about the site by historians and academicians. Many said the heritage walk covered various aspects of history but felt more comprehensive and detailed information was needed.
