Delhi govt defends itself as Congress, BJP criticize increased VAT proposal
New Delhi, June 30 (ANI): The Congress and BJP on Tuesday criticized the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi after the latter proposed a hike in the value added tax (VAT) in the national capital. Not increasing the value-added tax directly in the Budget, the Delhi government on Monday introduced a VAT Amendment Bill that will allow the government to hike the tax on 11 goods by up to 30 per cent in future. However, the AAP gave clarifications over the issue.
