Dalip Kaur Tiwana returns Padma Shri protesting attacks on minorities

Patiala, Oct 13 (ANI): The protest by Punjabi littérateurs which started as a trickle three days ago has turned into a high tide. Joining the band of writers, who are up in arms against the “growing communalism in the country” and “curbs on freedom of expression”, veteran fiction writer Dalip Kaur Tiwana, on Tuesday returned the Padma Shri that she received in 2004 for her outstanding contribution to literature and education. Tiwana has become the first protester to renounce the Padma award. She said that it is an addition to the protests by writers against the growing attacks on minorities in the country.
