Cattle smuggler injured in BSF firing

Sonamura (Tripura), May 25 (ANI): A cattle smuggler was injured in BSF firing on Tuesday in bordering Sepahijal district of Tripura said police. According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Sepahijal Pradip Dey the incident took place in an open paddy field in between Sonapur and Bolerdhepa through which large number of cattle were being smuggled in the wee hours of morning. The BSF personnel had to open fire in self defence during which a smuggler was injured. Later the BSF also rushed the injured to the hospital for treatment in their vehicle. Smuggling of cattle, contraband and marijuana to Bangladesh through large area in Sonamura sub-division, where barbed wire fencing could not be raised, takes place on random despite BSF keeping vigil round the clock.
