CBI's clean chit to 1984 anti-Sikh riots accused sparks protest

New Delhi, March 27 (ANI): People in New Delhi took to streets to protest against the clean chit given to one of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots accused, Jagdish Tytler, by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Protesters shouted slogans and burnt an effigy to show their resentment outside the CBI office, where security was beefed up to prevent any untoward incident. Expressing anguish, President of Delhi unit of Akali Dal party, Manjit Singh GK said they would fight it politically and in higher courts as well. Tytler was among the three prominent leaders named in the reports on anti-Sikh riots case. In February this year, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was set up by Home Minister Rajnath Singh for investigating the riot cases. On Wednesday, senior advocate HS Phoolka said he would file a protest petition regarding the closure report filed by the CBI.
