Brahmin family maintains Haji Malang sufi shrine in Kalyan displaying communal harmony

Kalyan, May 25 (ANI): With a faith to get cured of her illness, Selma walks and climb a mountain with her impaired legs to pay obeisance at Haji Malang, a Sufi shrine located on a mountain at Mulang Gad. The holy place is situated 13 kms from Kalyan in Maharashtra. Like Selma, there are thousands of Muslim and Hindu devotees who climb on this mountain to reach the Haji Malang dargah and get their wishes fulfilled. Legend goes that Baba Malang and his followers reached the small village called Brahman Wadi near the mountain and asked a Brahmin family for water. The Brahmin realizing that Baba Malang and his followers are tired arranged a place to rest and offered them milk instead of water. This holy act of the Brahmin was duly appreciated by Baba and he blessed him. Since then, the holy shrine is looked after by a Hindu Brahmin family. Here communal harmony displayed at its best as a Hindu 'Vahivatdar' and a Muslim 'Mutavalli' participate in the rituals.
