Bitter end to iconic sweet shop 'Ghantewala' in Chandni Chowk

Old Delhi, July 04 (ANI): It was a bitter end to an iconic sweet shop when 225-year-old "Ghantewala" downed its shutters. The sweet shop located in Old Delhi's Chandni Chowk area was in business since 1790 and catered to Mughals, Presidents, Prime Ministers, Bollywood celebrities and foreign tourists with its mouthwatering delicacies. The shop that was famous for its traditional Persian sweet Sohan Halwa and many other delectable sweets made in clarified butter had to close down due to family differences. During Mughal era, Emperor Shah Alam would often visit the shop on an elephant to just eat the sweets, added Jain. Adding some hope, Jain said they will open the shop again.
