Amendment in POCSO Act: Shivraj welcomes the move, says rape accused have no right to live

Bhopal (MP), April 21 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday welcomed Centre Government's decision to amend the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He added that the perpetrators of such heinous acts have no moral right to live. The Madhya Pradesh CM further asserted that the state government had also taken a step towards the capital punishment for rape accused. "Huge step taken for safety of our daughters. I thank PM and Union Cabinet. Madhya Pradesh had also taken a step towards this. This will instill fear among criminals and they'll think before committing such heinous crime," said CM Chouhan. The Centre Government on Saturday approved an ordinance to amend the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act to introduce the death penalty for rape of children younger than 12 years. Country's women welcomed the decision with open hands. They said in one voice that the decision has came little late but hopefully it will decrease the heinous crime.
