7 killed as nature's fury strikes Simahasta Kumbh

Ujjain, May 06 (ANI): Strong gusts of wind and heavy downpour wrecked havoc at the Simahasta Kumbh Mela in Ujjain on Thursday evening. Nature's fury claimed seven lives and left 80 others injured in the ongoing holy festival. Strong winds disintegrated the pandals and also left tents collapsed. Many devotees were said to be trapped where a pandal caved in. Thousands of devotees from across the country have been visiting Ujjain since April 22, when the month-long fair began. Moreover, a drainage line near Ramghat, one of the main ghats, burst and sewage water flowed into the Kshipra, posing another challenge to the administration ahead of today's Parv Snaan when more devotees are expected to visit the town.
