48 hour shutdown in Manipur disrupts routine life

Senapati Bazar, June 18 (ANI): Regions in Manipur like Senapati district that border Nagaland wore a deserted look causing much hardship to the locals, as the United Naga Council (UNC), a forum that claims to represent the interests of ethnic Naga community living in Manipur has given a call for a 48 hour shutdown. President of UNC, L Adani Mao expressed displeasure due to lack of initiative by the Manipur and the central government in taking forward the democratic process of dialogue to enable an alternative arrangement for the Nagas to preserve their ethnic identity and cultural heritage in the state. Further he noted that the Naga community is yearning for political empowerment.
