Celebrating Onam!

Kerala, Aug 29 (ANI): Devotees in Kerala celebrated with fervour the harvest festival of Onam today, as they participated in traditional activities with utmost gusto. The festival is greatly awaited across Kerala, often referred to as Gods Own Country, as it is believed that the harvest festival heralds prosperity and happiness in the society. Onam is marked with varied festivities and these include women performing various dance performances and men playing musical instruments to celebrate the auspicious occasion. Onam is the largest festival in Kerala, and falls during the first month of the Malayalam calendar, which is Chingam and marks the homecoming of the legendary King Mahabali.
