'Jallikattu' stir continues to spread as thousands protest against ban
Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Jan 19 (ANI): Crowds continued to swell as massive protests in Chennai, which are being observed demanding lifting of the ban on controversial bull-taming sport 'Jallikattu', gained momentum. A man stood neck-deep in sand at the city's Marina Beach as a mark of protest, while several others stood beside him, holding placards reading, 'Save Jallikattu, it's our culture.' Students from several educational institutions raised slogans against the Supreme Court and the federal government. Police personnel were deployed in large numbers across the state as several local groups and organizations vowed to violate the ban and organise the sport.
