Diwan-i-Khas also known as Hall of Private Audience was the important place of Red Fort where Mughal rulers carried out their private meeting with Kings and advisors. If you are on a tour to Delhi you must visit Diwan-i-Khas in Red Fort Delhi.

Introduction about Diwan-i-Khas Delhi:

Diwan-i-Khas is built in the middle of the Red Fort and is made of marbles with engravings and decoration on the walls and pillars. It depicts the Mughal style of architecture.

It is a rectangular shape hall having a rectangular chamber supported by piers.

Brief History of Diwan-i-Khas:

Diwan-i-Khas built by Shah Jahan was the important part of the palace. Diwan-i-Aam was the place where ruler used to meet the citizen and Diwan-i-Khas was the place where Mughal ruler met with his advisors, guests and Kings.

It also has a marble platform on which the famous Peacock Throne was kept which was later taken by Nadir Shah during his invasion.

Fatehpuri Masjid Delhi:

Fatehpuri Masjid situated in Chandni Chowk and at the opposite side of Red Fort was built by one of the wives of Shah Jahan. It was built in the year 1650. This mosque is made of Red sandstone.

Jama Masjid Delhi:

Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in Delhi was made in 6 years by Shah Jahan. Around 25,000 people come here to pray during Eid and other Muslim festivals. It is made of Red sandstone and white marble. This mosque being situated in Chandni Chowk and very neat to Red Fort is one of the most visited historical monuments of Delhi.

Entry fees is only to enter in the Red Fort and there is no special fee for Diwan-i-Khas (Entry Fee: Rs. 10 for Indians, Rs. 250 for foreigners)
