He made his Bollywood debut from Biwi Ho To Aisi but success came to him with Maine Pyar Kiya. Maine Pyar Kiya went on to become one of India's highest grossing films ever of that time. His Hum Aapke Hai Kaun was 4th in India's highest grossing film ever of its time. 2011-released Bodyguard is second highest grossing film of all time till date. He has worked in TV serial 10 ka Dum and Big Boss.

He is suffering from Trigeminal Neuralgia disease.
