She has won 10 major awards and was nominated for 26 other awards for her acting.

Born on 15 May 1967 to Shankar and Snehlata and has two sisters Rupa and Bharati and one brother Ajit. In the year 1999, she got married to Dr Sriram Madhav and shifted to U.S.A. She has two sons, Arin and Ryan.

After a long pause from the Bollywood film industry after marriage except for Aja Nachle she is all set to make a comeback in Bollywood Industry.

She received Padma Shri in the year 2008 and National Citizen Award in 2001. Her wax statute has also been placed in Madame Tussauds museum of London.
