Education is a process that involves giving or receiving information under a formal system like college or education. Here the field of education is not limited to the college or university system as there are various examples of informal education and self-taught persons.

In ancient India, sages and seers used to provide education to the heirs of various kingdoms to make them efficient to run the administration In order to meet the expectations and welfare needs of the subjects. Various subjects like ethics, warfare and other things were taught in the ashrams. Our epics are full of examples how some princes went to the Ashrams of Gurus to get educated.

But in the modern times there is a need of more evolved kind of education. A good formal education enables one to learn new things in life and contribute something back to society to make it a better place to live.

As requirements of society are diverse so the education system has to be diversified so that it can fulfill the changing needs of the society. Owing to requirement of specialized education the education sector has been divided into various categories like arts, science, commerce, engineering, business management, fashion design and teaching among other things.

As a society needs a host of services for its smooth functioning, this specialization is well justified. For example, an efficient banking system requires efficient professionals trained for banking operation, likewise services of engineers and architects are required to develop infrastructure in the country.

On the same line, various medical colleges have been opened to prepare good physicians who can look after the health of the society. In the recent years medical system has evolved a lot and latest practices have come to the fore to ensure wellbeing of society.

But once we are in the pink of our health we require other things like enjoyment and activity. To give us proper entertainment, we need good kinds of entertainment in the form of television, cinema and theatre for which we need trained professionals.

The informal system of ancient ages has given way for more specialized institutional training.

Now there are a bevy of professions in which students can make career by getting professional education.
