Bahujan Samaj Party is a national party in India. The party came into existence as representative of Bahujan that means people in majority. News of Bahujan Samaj Party is very common as it is becoming increasingly popular. The party has a great following among schedule caste, schedule tribe and those on the lowest rung of the society. Besides these communities the party also supports the cause of other backward classes and communities having a small population. The party draws inspiration from B.R. Ambedkar.

Bahujan Samaj Party abbreviated as BSP was founded by Kanshi Ram in 1984. Later Mayawati took the reins from him in 2003. In recent decades party has grabbed a large vote share making latest news of Bahujan Samaj Party a regular affair.

Let us talk about the symbol and flag of Bahujan Samaj Party. Elephant is elections symbol of Bahujan Samaj Party that represents large population that party represents. The flag of BSP is of blue color that is inspired from sky. There is no untouchability in the sky and it does not differentiate between rich and poor and also represent peace and party believes in the same. The party believes in equality of human that is in interest of the common people.

In 2007 elections in Uttar Pradesh state assembly party attained a clear majority and party president Ms. Mayawati took over as Chief Minister. It was her fourth term in the office as Chief Minister of the state. But in 2012 elections the party had to remain content with 80 seats only and news of Bahujan Samaj Party again became common for losing the ground. But its 21 MP's are still important for the ruling UPA.

Due to this philosophy the party has gained popularity and its success in the recent elections is a prove of this fact.
