Swaraj Paul was born in 1931 in the Indian city Jalandhar, Punjab in a merchant family. He received Padma Vibhusan in 1983 by Indira Gandhi. He is the pro-chancellor of Thames Valley University and its governing body. His business is based in London and is centered in the United Kingdom.
