The birth of Ranvir Sena has also been a result of the caste violence and disparity in social and economical status for various communities. As the ideology of Ranvir Sena claims, it was founded to protect the interests of upper casts landlords from dalit and downtrodden and naxalites.

History

Ravir Sena is a private militia, which was founded by upper casts landlords, which is mainly based in Bihar. It is thought that it was come in light to protect the interests of upper casts mainly Bhumihar, Brahman and Rajput landlords from the naxalites.

It is claimed that Ranvir Sena was formed to combat the influence of various Naxalites group like Communist Party of India, Marxist-Leninist (CPI-ML) in the central Bihar. There were many small groups of the upper casts like Savarna Liberation Army and the Sunlight Sena, Brahmarshi Sena, Kisan Morcha were the other small groups, which were busy for their fights but in scattered and limited area with limited resources. All they tried their best to against the Naxals but due to their small groups and unplanned activity, they were unable to fight them. Then all these groups felt of need for a central organization that can be fulfill their aim to protect from these Naxals, which was the root cause for the birth for Ranvir Sena. After the merger of all these small groups, Ranvir Sena come in to existence in Belaur village of Udwantnagar block, Bhojpur district on September 1994. The basic intention for its formation was to combat the above naxals group and minimizing their influence in the area.

Brammeshwar Mukhiya: Brahmeshwar Singh alias Mukhiya ji was the founder of Ranvir Sena and he played active role in uniting all the small groups for a single sena. In shocking incidents he was shot dead by some unidentified assailants on 1st June 2012 in his home village when he was on morning walk. His killing has brought the town unrest and his angry supporter protests violently against his killings.

Brahmeshwar Mukhiya was arrested in Patna on August 29 2002 on the various charges of murder. He was earlier facing life imprisonment in various carnage cases and was acquitted and released from jail in April this year.

Ideology: After its formation, Ranvir Sena emerged a major militia group and organizes many carnage and massacre, which were enough to prove its right extremist face. It claimed that the main factor behind its formation was the extreme action of Naxals in the area. To protect themselves from Naxals, the farmers and landlords of the area united and make the militia sena.

Stronghold areas: Ranvir Sena was founded in Bhojpur district but after its formation, it emerged as a central platform for such a activities. Suddenly it become popular in the entire region and over a period of time it spread in many districts including Jahanabad, Patna, Aurangabad, Gaya, Bhabhuaa, Bhojpur, Nawada and Buxur districts. All the areas were initially affected by the so called People?s war group, Maoist Communist Centre also CPI-ML. Ranvir Sena soon become a center for the upper class landlords in the central Bihar and allegedly organize many carnages.

Major carnages: It is alleged that Ranvir Sena is responsible for many carnages in which many dalits were killed however Sena always ruled out these allegations.

Around 50 people were killed during 1995 election and it was blamed that Ranvir Sena was behind the killings.

In Haibas pur 10 workers were brutally killed on 23 March 1997 and it was assumed that Ranvir Sena was once again responsible for the same.

Bathani Tola massacre was one of the major carnages in which 21 dalits were slaughtered on 11 July 1996. Once again it was alleged that Ranvir Sena was behind the carnage.
