Rajiv Gandhi

Everything you need to know about Rajiv Gandhi: news, reviews, in-depth analysis, opinion and more

Rajiv Gandhi, again the scion of Gandhi-Nehru family was another leading politician of the time, commonly known as the youngest prime minister of the largest democracy in the world. Born of Gandhi-Nehru family in 1944 from the union of Indira and Feroz Gandhi, this illuminating guy seemed as a bright lamp at the time of his birth a well. Educated in Oxford University, Rajiv was an official pilot in Indian Airlines and was never hopeful to join in politics. But the sudden death of his brother Sanjay Gandhi in the year 1980 compelled him to bear the burden of the country and be the driver of this nation. In his nature and outlook this young and energetic person was very straightforward and convincing and right and sober in his approach. Owing to his leading capacity in politics, Rajiv brought towering victory for congress in 1984 parliamentary poll and stood as the highest majority party in the Lok sabha. Rajib brought major political, economic and social reforms in the country alleviating the reservations and provided all sorts of advantages to the lower caste people and to all. Bofors scandal was the chief fault of the party at that time that chained Rajib in criticisms and he faced all round castigation from the citizens of India. This unveiled the inner quality of Congress government led by Young leader Rajib. During his internship as the PM India had good bilateral tie with US thus enhancing friendship with major economies of the world. He was also unfortunate owing to his conflict with LTTE in SriLanka as a consequence of which he had to face bomb attack from the militants.
