The Human Development Index is an index or indication indicating measures or percentages of Life expectancy, educational achievement, Gross Domestic Product, Per Capita Income and Literacy in all the countries of the world. It is conducted by United Nations Development Programme to proportionate the standard of the people, society and country in order to determine the standard of the country and evaluate whether a country is developed, developing or underdeveloped. This report is called Human Development Report published by UNDP. The report first came out in the year 1990 by Mehbub Ul Haq, economist and finance minister of Pakistan by the assistance of Richard Jolly, Meghnad Desai, from London school of Economics and Indian economist as well as Nobel laureate Amartya Sen. During the year 2007/08 the Human Development Report reveals Iceland as the top of all countries in the world where as United States and United Kingdom remain at 12th and 16th respectively.
