From a very small beginning in the year 1900 the university has rose to become an institution of repute. A large number of native students together with students from the different parts of the world vie for the admission into this prestigious institution in the state of Rajasthan in India.

The institution came into its present form in the year 1964 to realize the dreams of Jawaharlal Nehru by nation building through modernization.

The institute endeavors to educate and train students in such a manner so that they can shoulder the challenges of modern society. Generation, spread and preservation of knowledge are main focus of BITS Pilani which has also given various able and skilled engineers to the society.

Now the BITS has a number of campuses in the different parts of the country that includes Goa and Hyderabad. Recently the institute had started its overseas campus in Dubai.
