Czech Republic News: The landlocked central European country of Czech Republic has a glorious history. The Czechs founded the Bohemian Empire that ruled Bohemia and Moravia from the 10t till the 16th century. The Country came under the Austrian Empire and converted into Czechoslovakia in 1918. In 1968 the ?Prague Spring? took place when the country came under communist rule that lasted till 1993 when the velvet revolution took place and the present Czech Republic was born. The country has made remarkable progress since then under its first President Vaclav Havel. Czech Republic joined the EU in 2004, NATO in 1999 and the icing was the entry into the esteemed developed countries league in 2006.
