Comoros News: The Comoros Islands located off the east African coast between Mozambique and Madagascar coast in the Indian Ocean are a groups of four islands and the third smallest African nation by size. The Comoros Islands are semi-autonomous and this has led to tensions between the different islands. However, this is only a small blemish on this popular holiday paradise with white sandy beaches. Comoros in Arabic means ?moon? thus attesting to its pristine beauty. The Grande Comore Island is the largest of the Comoros islands and under the 2001 constitution the Grande Comore, Moheli and Anjouan islands were granted autonomy and their own presidents following a secession attempt in 1997. In spite of the location benefit Comorans are a poor people owing to lack of natural resources and vanilla, cloves and perfume essence comprise the chief export items.
