Sep 18: A three member committee was appointed by YS Rajsekhara Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh following the allegation by the retired Vigilance Commissioner RC Samal.
The Chief Minister announced three member committee headeby Chief Secretary J Harinarayan, Anti-Corruption Bureau Director General SSP Yadav and Vigilance and Enforcement wing director general M Ratan .
"No person in his senses can make this sort of derogatory remarks. This is ridiculous. There may be black sheep in all fields, but you have no right to make sweeping allegations," the Chief Minister said at a press conference on Monday.
Reddy took serious notice of the fact that how the officer, who retired three days back, can manage a press conference and release a press note. He pointed towards the officer that the state government took action on 86% of the cases recommended by Samal and on the remaining case the government used its discreation on humanitarian ground.
He criticized the TDP regime, which sat on Anti Corruption Bureau reports and did not even make public the Vigilance Commission reports for 10 years.
The TDP Government shelved annual reports submitted by the Vigilance Commissioner for 10 years. The demand for discussion on corruption in the Assembly is like the devil quoting the scriptures,” he said.
Shrugging of the allegation he came out in support of Home Minister K Jana Reddy and two of his senior staff Jannat Hussain and Kumara Bhanu whose name appeared in the report.
Reacting on the whole statement the Chief minister said” He has crossed his limits by making such allegations,” And defended Jana Reddy remarks who said that Samal has lost his mental balance.
Samal in his report Jana Reddy was ready to bail out the corrupt officials.
Samal revealed that in the next 15 days he will come up with the name of 160 most corrupt officers of the All India Service working in the state. He said 18 officers he named recently, were only the tip of the iceberg.
Reddy questioned the whole episode that why he did not submit a single report on the corruption in his three years tenure and asked “Is it proper for a senior IAS officer to make such sweeping allegations after retirement”.
He said that this allegation was perhaps a curtain-raiser for his forthcoming book.
He pointed towards the TDP president Chandrababu Naidu, and alleged that he could be supporting Samal. The biggest manipulator in the state sent Paul after me and he may have now sent Samal,” said Rajasekhara Reddy.
Earlier well known evangelist K.A. Paul alleged that Reddy was against him because he had refused to give $ 5 million party fund sought by Y.S Rajasekhar Reddy in December 2003 when he was the opposition leader.
However the charges were refuted by the Chief Minister.
Despite these entire allegations, the Chief Minister said that his government is committed to end corruption in the state.
