Serial blasts strike Ahmedabad, Gujarat

Terror strikes yet another commercial hob, this time Gujarat’s Ahmedabad city on Saturday evening. Reportedly 10 to 15 people are feared dead and over 60 have been injured. A day after the serial blasts in country's IT capital- Bangalore, terrorists struck with 10 to 12 low-intensity blasts, according to televion reports.

Multiple blasts took place at Maninagar, Isanpur, Narol circle, Bapunagar, Hatkeshwar, Sarnagpur Bridge, Sardar Patel Diamond Market, Saranpur, Sakrej. Soon after the blasts, police had cordoned off each area and a red alert has been issued in the state of Gujurat.

As per initial report, the first blast occurred at state Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s own constituency Maninagar at around 6:45 pm. As reports are coming, 12 blasts have been confirmed.

Most of blasts are planted in bicycles; all blasts crop up at a span of 30 minutes. One of the blasts took place in a bus and another one in a car placed inside the LJ hospital premises.

According to sources, a state of high alert is issued in national capital New Delhi, Mumbai and other important cities across the country. The Union Home Ministry is in touch with Gujarat administration for any additional help.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President Pratibha Patil have condemned the blasts and appealed to the citizens to maintain peace and tranquillity.

On Friday, eight bomb blasts rocked Bangalore, leaving two dead and 20 injured. On Saturday, a ninth unexploded bomb was found in Bangalore's Koramangala area.
