Aug 31: Rajasthan High court granted bail to Salman Khan in Chinkara poaching case on Friday morning fixing the next hearing date on October 24 th. He is sposed to fly to Mumbai by a chartered plane in the evening.
Earlier Jodhpur district and session court upheld the decision of a lower court’s order which accorded five years’ rigorous imprisonment to the actor for killing two Chinkaras at Ujjyala Bhakhar near Ghoda farm.
Salman Khan was arrested on august 25 th at Jodhpur airport when he came to Jodhpur to surrender after his appeal against the lower court order was rejected. After the arrest he was kept in the central jail of Jodhpur. Due the holidays and the withdrawal of Justice Gopal Krishna Vyas from listening the case his bail plea was delayed. Then his case was listed in the court of Justice HR Panwar where he sought the suspension of jail sentence and bail in the same case.
High court ordered his release on a security of Rs. 1 lakh and a bond of Rs 50,000 after hearing his revision petition. But he will have to appear for hearing of revision petition on 24 th October.
Court has also suspended his five year jail term accorded to the actor by the lower court. Though Rajasthan government did not seem happy with the judgement and has called for the enhancement of the jail term. This is to be known that it is not the only case against Salman Khan. He was also convicted for killing black bucks at Bhawad and the case is still pending in Rajasthan Court.
Animal activists have expressed disappointment over the judgement of suspension of his jail term.
