Xenophobic attack on Indians in Muegeln, Germany by mob

Aug 21: In the morning almost eight Indians were attacked in Muegeln, Germany by a mob of almost 50 young Germans at a fair at Saxony. This was a shocking cident for all including victims.

During a festival fair a crowd of almost 50 Germans suddenly started shouting “go back foreigners” and started attacking the Indians in fury.

Initially they pursued Indian visitors and then chased them to attack into Pizzeria.

None came to the aid of the victims. Police in huge number was called to disperse the attacking the mob. One victim and one German have been admitted to the hospital.

One of the victims, Kulvir Singh told that he never had any problem in Muegeln earlier but today suddenly Germans started calling them as foreigners and attacked them.

German police sees the xenophobic motive behind the attack. Till yet no arrest has been done.

Mayor of Muegeln has denied that Indians were attacked by the local people of Muegeln.

According to one eyewitness, “they shouted ‘go back foreigners’. None did anything about it”.

Ministry of external affairs has said that complaint will be done to the German authorities by the Indian embassy in Berlin. Though till yet no action has been taken against anyone. Indian embassy in Berlin is the body which represents India in the country; this body only can communicate or register its concern over the safety of Indians in Germany.

Indian ambassador Meera Shanker has reacted to the attack and expressed concern for Indians in Germany.
