2 prisoners, 3 assailants shot dead at UP court

In a broad daylight shootout, two undertrials were killed by three unidentified gunmen, who were later gunned down by police today (February 21) in the district court premises at Hathras, near Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh.

According to police, two accused of rape and murder, Satyaveer Singh and Kamlesh Singhwere being produced before the court when three men fired indiscriminately at the prisoners causing their death at the spot.

The police then followed the assailants and shot them.

The bodies have been sent for post mortem while police is trying to establish the identity of those attackers. Meanwhile, police is not ruling out any possibility of personal enmity.

Soon after the incident, lawyers have demanded adequate security in and around the court premises.
